    Employee Benefits Practice Leader and Principal, Dan Troy, graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to joining the insurance industry, he was an accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLP in the Silicon Valley; providing financial and tax accounting services to public and privately held clients in the technology sector. Dan co-founded Gray & Troy Insurance in 1999, which has since joined forces under the Morris & Garritano name. As an employee benefits advisor, Dan has centered his focus and continuing professional education on the Affordable Care Act, including Healthcare Reform Studies administered by The American College.

    Dan is currently a member of the San Luis Obispo Community Foundation Investment Committee and the Caballeros de San Luis Obispo Board of Directors. He has previously been involved with SLO Noor Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the ALPHA Board of Directors.

    Before Senior Employee Benefits Advisor David Morgan joined Morris & Garritano over twelve years ago, he taught at Cal Poly and Mission College Preparatory.  His community involvement includes Rotary, Mission College Preparatory Board of Regents, Human Resources Association of the Central Coast, Santa Maria Human Resources Association, San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Legislative Task Force, Surfing for Hope, and Estero Bay Surf Club. He is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists.

    David graduated from UC Berkeley with high honors and Phi Beta Kappa.  In addition to a master’s degree from Cal Poly, he has earned the Chartered Healthcare Consultant (ChHC™) and Registered Health Underwriter (RHU®) designations from The American College.  David has the Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS) designation from National Underwriter and was one of the first thirty-six people in the country to gain The American College’s Certificate in Healthcare Reform Studies.

    His interests are spending time with his kids, surfing, camping, Cal football, swimming, and Central Coast Rhone wines.  He is a member of the Dewey Weber Surfboards Competition Team and SLO Leadership Class XII.


  • Ben Hoover

    Ben Hoover is a Central Coast native. After graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly, SLO, Ben moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in health care consulting. He spent three years consulting with Triage Consulting Group, and in 2009, Ben returned to the Central Coast to join Morris & Garritano Insurance Services as an Employee Benefits Advisor.

    Ben is involved in the wine community; he partners with prestigious wine charity auctions across the U.S., enjoys spending time at his family’s Paso Robles winery, Still Waters Vineyards, and focuses on his own vineyard and winemaking projects at home. In his leisure time, Ben enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, fishing and hunting. Ben and his wife Nancy live in South Atascadero with their one-year-old son Charlie.


  • Jon Pollock

    Employee Benefits Advisor Jon Pollock joined Morris & Garritano in 2005. He also leads our Estate & Financial Planning department.  After attending Santa Clara University he worked in the finance industry in San Francisco.  He has earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation after completing advanced courses in several topics including insurance, investments, taxation, employee benefits, estate planning, accounting, management and economics.   Jon leads the Estate & Financial Planning Department focusing on helping our clients protect and grow their assets.  In addition, he will help create a plan to distribute the assets to heirs in a tax efficient manner.

    His community involvement includes serving as the current President of Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County.  Jon is a graduate of SLO Leadership Class XIII and a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.   During his free time, his interests include running, golfing, playing music and reading.


  • Steve Gray

    Employee Benefits Advisor, Steve Gray, graduated from St. Mary's College with a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1996. Before tackling the insurance industry, Steve's work experience was in the Information Technology sector located in the Silicon Valley. Steve has been a licensed agent and employee benefits advisor for over 10 years; he spent those years with Gray & Troy Insurance before joining Morris & Garritano when the two companies came together.  His expertise includes Healthcare Reform, employee benefits and individual life and health benefits. Steve is also a certified Covered California agent. He continues his professional education on the Affordable Care Act, including Healthcare Reform Studies administered by The American College and the California Association of Health Underwriters (CAHU). Steve recently earned his Certified Healthcare Reform Specialist certification through CAHU.
