Frank Sheahan Announces Retirement and Transitions Clients to M&G

After 48 years of providing superior service to his clients, Frank Sheahan has announced his retirement from the insurance industry. As of January, 2019, Sheahan will transition the service of his accounts to Morris & Garritano Insurance. Sheahan notes, “It is important that my clients be protected and taken care of. When thinking of who would provide the best possible service, with the best possible people, only one name came to mind – Morris & Garritano.”

Prior to his time in the insurance industry, as Sheahan puts it, he was “just a punk kid from New Jersey whose dad gave him three options – the Army, the Navy, or the Air Force.” In 1963, after a semester at Rutgers, he joined the Army as a buck private performing Morse code for his battalion commander. He gradually made his way up the ranks to become a Captain in the Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets. He was deployed to Vietnam in January 1968 and served overseas until his departure from the army in 1969. Sheahan then ran a military unit in Sausalito as a reservist while attending college in San Francisco.

Sheahan’s insurance career started on February 11, 1971 when he joined Aetna Life and Casualty after graduating first in his class from San Francisco State University. He gained experience selling life insurance and mortgage policies by walking door-to-door, enjoying every opportunity to meet new people. In 1973 he came to the Central Coast to work for a prominent Property and Casualty insurance company, Neal Truesdale. After 7 years with the agency, Sheahan started his own firm, offering services for group medical, individual medical, and pension plans. He ran that operation from 1980 until his retirement this year. “I love what I do and am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people. My clients are my family – some have been with me for 35 years.”

Sheahan not only served his clients but served our community as well. He was President of the Mustang Booster Club in 1981, President of the SLO Chamber of Commerce in 1983 and 1984, was named the SLO Chamber’s Citizen of the Year in 1989, and has participated in numerous organizations over the years. He has been a long-time friend and colleague of the Morris family. Our CEO, Brendan Morris, notes “I’ve admired Frank for many years, and our approach to insurance is very similar – ensuring that our clients are provided peace of mind and service they can trust. We are honored and excited to be able to assist Frank’s clients and embrace the opportunity to build new relationships along the way.”

M&G Awarded ‘Best Agency to Work For’ and ‘Agency of the Year’

We are excited to announce that Morris & Garritano was recently honored with not one, but two industry awards. Click on the publication covers below to read the full articles.

For the second year in a row, M&G was named one of Insurance Journal’s ‘Best Agencies to Work For.’ It is a true testament to the spirit of our employees that we have been able to maintain our culture while bringing in new team members and growing as an agency.

This award was based on our own employees’ nominations and responses to Insurance Journal’s anonymous survey about work-life balance, competitive wages and growth opportunities, community involvement, and overall job satisfaction.

Alternatively, from a client services perspective, we were recognized as one of three recipients in the nation for National Underwriter’s ‘Agency of the Year’. This award is based on an evaluation of our client services, claims-handling, employment of new technologies, agency marketing, and customer retention.

Thank you to our amazing employees, colleagues, and clients for trusting us to serve you and provide you with peace of mind throughout the years and for generations to come. We love what we do, and we love that we get to do it for all of YOU!

Morris & Garritano ranked #1 on Pacific Coast Business Times 2018 Best Places to Work List

Morris & Garritano Insurance (M&G) is once again reaffirming their position as a top employer. The Pacific Coast Business Times recently released their annual list of Best Places to Work on the Central Coast, and M&G came in at #1. CEO Brendan Morris is especially honored to be recognized for having a workplace that fosters collaboration, trust, support, and a little bit of fun. “We say it time and time again, but Morris & Garritano is the company it is today because of our employees.”

The Pacific Coast Business Times’ anonymous survey gathered information about M&G’s employee-focused culture, 133-year history, community involvement and outreach, as well as other recognitions they have received over the years. In 2017 they were included in Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Companies and were named Insurance Journal’s “Overall Best Agency to Work For” in the country.

As a third-generation family owned company, M&G is committed to living their core values: always be improving, love what you do, do the right thing, build collaborative relationships, and go the extra mile. Morris knows that what they have at M&G is unique. As he says, “Most people don’t grow up saying ‘I want to be in insurance’ yet we feel we can teach anyone about that. What’s important to us is building relationships with customers. We’re passionate about it.”

With offices in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria, Morris & Garritano shows no sign of slowing down.  Their family of 130 employees will continue to grow by focusing on “…hiring the right people and staying dedicated to our clients, our employees, and our mission and values.” according to Morris.

Behind the Scenes of M&G

Over the last few months, we have been working on a project that we are so excited to now share with you!

In our monthly newsletter, I often talk about who we are at Morris & Garritano – the services we provide, the culture we nurture, and the commitment we have to our clients’ satisfaction. And I could tell you many more things, but I think it means so much more coming form the people that live our core values every day- our employees!

Together with 20|20 Creative Group, we have created two videos to showcase what it’s like to work with Morris & Garritano and what it’s like to work for Morris & Garritano.

Introducing the Three Newest Shareholders of Morris & Garritano!

Our Mission Statement is an integral part of how Morris & Garritano does business. We strive to accomplish the first two items on a daily basis, but it is the third element that takes a little more time to achieve. We are committed to remaining an independent agency, dedicated to our clients, for generations to come and one of the ways we can ensure that happens is to expand our shareholder group. For that reason, I am proud to announce the three newest shareholders of Morris & Garritano: Justin Maire, Mark Anelli, and Gabe Garcia.

Justin started his career at the agency 13 years ago and lives our core values each and every day.  He has had great success over that time building relationships in our community and has proven to be a key stakeholder in our company.

Mark joined the agency back in 2008 and has proven to be a dynamic leader in our Commercial Lines division. His growth and embodiment of our Core Values make this next step a natural progression in his career.

As CFO, Gabe has been integral to our success and growth as a company. As a member of the Executive team he was a key part of forming the Mission, Core Values and Vision that we follow today.  Since joining the agency in 2010, he has quite simply been a gamechanger.

We are incredibly excited to have these three invaluable additions to the shareholder group and look forward to the growth and evolution of Morris &  Garritano as a result of their combined knowledge, experience, and passion.
